Words from
the President
Dear members,

Summer 2006 is coming to a close and as
we know this will be followed by beautiful fall colours and an
enchanting winter.
This year we were delighted to see the arrival of many new families
around Beaven lake and lac Rond. These families brought a
refreshing outlook and a keen interest in water sports, sailing,
fishing and swimming. This “rejuvenation” was best demonstrated
at the sunfish derby, which ended in Olympic-style sports for the
youngsters, and the naval battle (see details below).
Without a doubt our lakes are full of life and, most importantly,
healthy according to preliminary water test results. Even though
our lakes are doing well we must remain proactive in order to preserve
them. For this reason ALBeRo directors are presently working in
collaboration with the municipalities who are also convinced of the
importance of protecting our lakes for future generations.
I would like to thank all ALBeRo volunteer directors for their time,
support and devotion in carrying out the activities for 2006 and for
the progress on various files undertaken by ALBeRo this year.
I hope to see you at our next annual meeting on September 2nd 2006.

ALBeRo activities
Sunfish derby
and family picnic
This tradition, already in its 25th year, was a great success again
this summer. More than 15 youngsters participated in the sunfish
derby and they all obtained a prize. All participants were quite
pleased… even the fish were returned to the water.
The derby was followed by the traditional beach barbecue and
Olympic-style sports were organized to help the kids run off
steam.
The day was a great success and much appreciated by all.
This event is an excellent opportunity to
meet other lake association members and their families in a festive
setting.
Thanks again to Louise and Dean Booth for their help and the ski ticket
prizes. |
Activites on Beaven Lake
Parade of
boats and naval battle
A parade of boats was to be organized for this July 1st but a
lack of time made it impossible to properly plan. Nonetheless,
upon the insistence of the Fillion and Homet families a smaller version
did take place.
The Fillion boat was disguised as Batboat with the illustrious Batman,
Robin and the Sphinx whereas the Homet boat was converted into a pirate
ship. Of course, the boats were equipped with canons and water
guns for the occasion… it did not take long for this parade of boats to
degenerate into a naval battle.
Much fun was had by all and the event ended with a barbecue. This
event should definitely be undertaken at a greater scale next year.

Be alert!
ALBeRo encourages you to communicate with
your municipality concerning any noticed anomaly that could potentially
effect the environment or the lake side. We are all responsible for our
lakes’ health and therefore must take responsibility for it.
Examples: Dumping of sand or stones in the lakes,
construction without permits, tree cutting, septic
system dumping in the lake or lake bed, construction
in areas liable to flood or wet lands,
etc. |
Volunteers
needed for
the protection of our lakes
There is a genuine need for directors in the
ALBeRo
committee. We are presently seeking two residents from lac Rond
(Weir) and two residents from Arundel.
We would therefore invite you to present your candidacy at the next
annual meeting on September 2nd.
Everyone is welcome! |
